Rough-in: 2-way or 3-way?
Count the water outlets. Rain shower head + handheld + tub faucet = 3-way. If one of the three is missing (for example shower head + handheld only) it is a 2-way installation.
This model: 2-way (rain shower head + handheld). The handheld is fed from a diverter on the riser – turn it to switch between the rain head and the handheld.
It is an exposed system: the mixer sits on the wall, so you only need two ½" NPT connections – hot left, cold right at 6" centers. No valve inside the wall. The mixer sets the temperature; the diverter above it sends water to the rain head or the handheld.

Installation (US plumbing)
- Plan the height. The rain head should land at about 80" from the floor.
- Rough-in. Install two ½" NPT female stub-outs (hot left, cold right) at 6" centers, level – about 40–45" from the floor.
- Finish the wall and flush the lines.
- Fit the unions. Thread the eccentric unions in with PTFE tape and adjust them to the mixer centers.
- Mount the mixer. Fit the wall flanges and tighten the union nuts with the supplied washers.
- Fit the riser, arm and head, secure the wall bracket and connect the handheld hose.
- Test. Open the water slowly and check every joint for leaks.
Most US jurisdictions require an anti-scald (pressure-balance or thermostatic, ASSE 1016) shower valve – a licensed plumber can confirm local code. Installation instructions are sent with every order.

Do I need a rough-in valve for an exposed brass shower system?
No. An exposed shower system has its mixer on the wall, so you only need two ½" NPT hot and cold stub-outs – no valve inside the wall.
What spacing do the hot and cold stub-outs need for an exposed shower mixer?
Plan the two ½" NPT stub-outs at 6" centers, level with each other. The eccentric unions let you fine-tune the spacing slightly.
How high should the water inlets be for an exposed rain shower system?
Inlet height + riser height should place the rain head at about 80–84" from the floor – usually inlets at roughly 36–45".
How does the diverter switch between the rain shower head and the handheld shower?
The diverter on the riser above the mixer sends water up to the rain head or out to the handheld – turn it to choose. The mixer handles set the temperature.
Is this unlacquered brass shower compatible with standard US plumbing?
